Description
I was on 2.4.4 and tried to install suricata just now, and got an error "pkg-static: Cannot delete vital package: pfSense!".
Upgrading to 2.4.5 has fixed the problem
Have also left a note on Bug #9946 which seems related.

Not a bug. You must be on 2.4.5 to install the latest packages.
Alternately, you may manually choose the 2.4.4 branch for updates so it does not offer updated packages if you do not wish to upgrade to 2.4.5 at this time.

The error messages produced currently is not very helpful - it took me some googling before I realised the issue - perhaps something along the lines of "Please either upgrade pfSense to install this package OR manually choose your current version branch for updates so if you do not wish to upgrade to 2.4.5 at this time" ?
