Bug #1389
closedservices don't start
0%
Description
Version Info:
2.0-RC1 (amd64)
built on Sat Mar 26 00:18:39 EDT 2011
I installed bandwidthd (version 2.0.1.2), darkstat (version 3.0.713) and snort (version 2.8.6.1 pkg v. 1.35). However, I couldn't start them from the Services widget. After I click the start button, the widget would day the package is started but it's really not.

you have to configure them before they will start. This isn't specific enough to be a legit bug report, please see

Ok, I will configure again and see what happens. I am pretty sure that I configured bandwidthd. In any case, the widget should not display "... service is started" while it's not (but that's a lower priority issue).

I agree with Erik that it's misleading when the package manager reports "Service is started". I had installed bandwidthd and darkstat and neither started. I assumed the packages were busted, and removed and reinstalled them about 5 times each. I eventually configured them and then pop... they started. This would be easier if the Package Manager said "The package is installed. You must visit the package page to configure the service before it will start."
