That shouldn't be needed on current versions since the LDAP CA setup is different than it was back at the time that suggestion was posted. See #9417 and #10704 .

It helped someone on 23.01 after they saw the following from pfSense on a pcap when testing the auth:

Alert (Level: Fatal, Description: Unknown CA)
