Description

If possible, it’d be useful to have the ability to use aliases for DNS servers in both ‘General Setup’ and in ‘Services / DHCP Server’.

I find aliases so useful and it’d be great to see them added to these parts of the GUI too.

Many thanks.

Those are two wildly different use cases and shouldn't be lumped into a single feature request.

Also doing so would be impractical because the DNS servers on System > General each have individual settings for gateway and hostname that are not compatible with aliases.

The list of DNS servers on the DHCP server could maybe be handled by an alias but that also brings about a lot more complexity in terms of validation, ensuring that the alias only contains hosts and not subnets, that there aren't too many entries in the alias, that sort of thing.

I don't see enough of a benefit there for the user base as a whole in either case to warrant the extra complexity and development/maintenance required to add that functionality.
