Description
This was functionality inadvertently broken during the PHP 8.1 updates back in early 2023 and was not detected during testing at that time. It was apparently discussed on a Reddit thread in the past, but no Redmine issue was created to document the bug and thus it has persisted until now. The bug was recently reported again in a thread on the Netgate Forum where I noticed the post.
I will correct the issues and submit a pull request with the fix.

The fix for the issues in this ticket has been submitted to the DEVEL branch in pull request 1300 here: https://github.com/pfsense/FreeBSD-ports/pull/1300. I've asked for the fix to be merged into both the DEVEL and RELEASE branches of pfSense CE and Plus.
This issue can be marked as resolved when the pull request is merged.
