Description
Hello fellow Redmine community members. I have noticed time and time again I have the ability to scroll during package installs to see the what package dependencies are installing and to check version numbers but I can't get it to stay still for longer than a split second before it auto scrolls back to the bottom. Can we make this stay where users are when the scroll and remove the auto scroll function?
We currently have no way to see the dependency information after it scrolls past because auto scroll takes us back to the bottom again.
See attached photo, I wanted to check what dependency versions were installed, Everytime you scroll it defaults to bottom again.

When the package finishes installing you should have no issues scrolling up. Let me know if this is not the case.

It will only allow you to look back one page after it completes the install. It is like the scroll object repaints all of it so you can look back.

I believe that I indirectly addressed this in some recent work on the new ZFS/BE upgrade mechanism for 24.03. It doesn't quite work like I want it to (yet). The idea here being that the text area will auto scroll until the user scrolls up, then auto scrolling is disabled until the user scrolls back down to the bottom.

Yes, that way you can review what versions of package dependencies installed and or got adapted if something goes wrong. My first experience with needing to review this information was related to Snort and the issues with core dumps. I needed to review what package dependencies got updated. I couldn’t get the scroll feature to work correctly or back scroll. Thanks for looking into this with a fine tooth comb.

Testing this with installing/uninstalling Snort I see the auto-scroll checkbox works as expected while packages are being installed. Once the process is finished, the page is reloaded with the checkbox checked (even if it was unchecked previously) but all the text is still available to scroll through. Since the issue that was raised in the original report is addressed, I'll mark this as resolved.

Thank you this worked when I did a new upgrade also, I could check back with it. (my upgrade failed because of my 2100 has a nvme drive don't ask that is on me, but I was able to see the feature work during the upgrade process
