Description

Multicast Bridge is a daemon for forwarding UDP multicast data between
network interfaces, and is intended as an alternative to using pimd or
udpbroadcastrelay. It supports statically configured forwarding, and
dynamic interest-based forwarding using IGMP and MLD.

Compared with pimd or udpbroadcastrelay, Multicast Bridge offers
the following benefits:
  • Support for IPv6
  • Dynamic bridging support based on IGMP (IPv4) and MLD (IPv6).
  • Awareness of link-local scoped multicast addresses which should
    not be forwarded.
  • Smaller and simpler code, offering easier inspection/validation.
