Bug #16612
openPIMD 2.3.2b contains unreleased code
0%
Description
This [commit](https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-ports/commit/68f433dcd794f0b35de0efd4e8570b9adf3e8453) moved pimd from the v2.3.2 release to the current head of the development tree, bringing in all the unreleased 3.0 code. Note that there is no v2.3.2b of pimd.
If the development version is needed, it should be introduced as a pimd-dev port rather than forcing the pimd port to an unreleased version.

The description above applies to the upstream issue rather than to pfSense. A simplified title for the pfSense issue might be "PIMD in 25.11 fails to start".
This is the result of upstream moving pimd to the current unreleased/untested development code, which is incompatible with the release version of pimd. I've filed an upstream bug report here: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=292003.
Until upstream is fixed, I would recommend the pfSense version of pimd be rolled back to the January 2024 version here: https://github.com/pfsense/FreeBSD-ports/commit/1e38f0b17f3bb0eebc9fdfe261bf1501c45ae3a3.
