Description
Rather than only being able to upgrade secondary packages, it would be helpful to be able to check for upgrades for system packages and install them mid-release cycle for when we release updates to core system packages. We've done so for patching CVEs and such in recent days and always have to provide a CLI command for end users to run to install the patches. This would help us avoid having to cut point releases for minor security or bug fixes.

I second this. Removing friction for customers is beneficial.
Perhaps this could have another menu for the system packages or have them only appear when an update is available?
