Description

Hi!

I am trying to upgrade two router VMs.
start upgrade from website, restarted, after restart I need to re-attach LAN, WAN. OPTx, etc...
I can't see VMX cards in this step so the router won't load.

Workaround: After upgrade, I need to unintall the VMWare tools package, install E1000 cards and connect to internet and then re-install to see my VMXNET cards again. I lost some pices my original configuration.
Also I prefer to duplicate the machine if the operation will fail.

System Configuration:

ESXi 4.1, ESXi 5.0, VMXNET 2 cards with 2.0.1/2.0.2/2.1 tested.

The way the update system works, I'm not sure there is a lot we can do for this. We can't pre-load the tools package, and we can't keep the old kernel module around. Loading the old kernel module can panic the system if enough has changed, leaving it unbootable. So this is a bit of a catch-22. Either leave the system in a state that could be unbootable, or leave it without NICs.

This should work properly on 2.2 since vmxnet is part of base OS.

resolves itself, as Ermal noted
