Description

I've been playing with the new CARP implementation in 2.2.x The ability to float a single public CARP VIP on two nodes is useful in some situations,
but having private IPs on the actual interfaces breaks monitoring, and you have to tag the gateway always up.
It would be nice to be able to source the monitoring traffic via the public CARP VIP. Not sure if this is feasible with apinger, but something to keep in mind if a replacement for apinger is written.

Yes, /var/etc/apinger.conf has a srcip of a Private IP when using using CARP with one WAN IP. There isn't a way to specify the proper src IP or interface in the existing pfsense interface.
