Description

Cloning an existing VM in ESXi 5.5, assigned new MAC addresses to interfaces, but /var/db/dhcp6c_duid contains a DUID with the MAC address of the clone's source machine, leading to DHCP duplicate IPv6 assignments.

Reproducible: always
Setup pfSense WAN interface as DHCP6 client
Clone pfSense to new VM
Start original and clone, both end up getting same IPv6 address.
There might also be a bug in ISC DHCP6 since it is assigning the same IPv6 address to requests containing the same DUID but different source MAC addresses.

there can be a variety of things you don't want to clone depending on specifics of your setup. If you're going to clone, configure your template image accordingly.
