E-Mail Notifications/Alerts

Description
It would be good to have some kind of configurable system for e-mail notifications of system alerts make it in for 2.0.
Aside from system alerts, it could periodically send certain logs (perhaps encrypted? that may be too much) with some warnings/flag waving about security about sending plaintext info.
Wouldn't have to be encrypted, for those who don't want to send potentially sensitive info over email, it could simply be a "There is a new alert on fwX.example.com" message and the user would have to log in to see what it was.
Basic support for email notifications have been added. Example:
