Description

Issue: When installing 2.4 on Hyper-V 2012R2 Gen1 VM, the installer does not see any drives.

Workaround: From Bug #6913

On the installer boot prompt, select
3. Escape to the loader prompt
set hw.ata.disk_enable=1
boot

after installation do it again.

after boot exit to shell with 8.
ee /boot/loader.conf
add the line
hw.ata.disk_enable="1"

  • Target version changed from 2.4.0 to 2.4.1

That's something that will need to be addressed by FreeBSD. If it's fixed in 11-STABLE, perhaps our next release after 2.4 will get the change, or it may make it into 2.4 yet, but either way it depends on it being fixed in FreeBSD first.

Please retry this on 2.4.0-RELEASE which uses a FreeBSD 11.1 base and it has several fixes for Hyper-V.
