Description

Hardware APU2C4 with SSD 16Gb

As soon as I configure traffic shapper (wizard or not), my pfsense is completely stuck with a kernel panic.

I have reinstall 2 times my system from scratch and it's the same issue at each time.

I can have ip but no webinterface and after that kernel panic...

At startup I can see this error :

Configuring firewall.route: writing to routing socket: No such process
.....done.

and 1 minute after the end of the boot :

Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
cpuid = 2; apic id = 02
fault virtual address = 0x20071
fault code = supervisor write data, page not present
instruction pointer = 0x20:0xffffffff80d46037
stack pointer = 0x28:0xfffffe01210f9760
frame pointer = 0x28:0xfffffe01210f9790
code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b = DPL 0, pres 1, long 1, def32 0, gran 1
processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0
current process = 14034 (unbound)

The stability of the APU2C4 was perfect for 5 months before traffic shapper testing...

Same issue with 3 other APU2C4 hardware...

Please discuss the problem on the forum before opening a bug report.

It's entirely possible that even if it isn't a hardware fault, it's still a problem specific to your hardware. Most likely it's either the hardware or the drivers for your specific network chipset on that hardware, or some setting specific to your hardware that needs changed.

Ok but APUC4 is a compatible pfsense hardware no?

Like most other x86/x86-64 hardware, while it may work, we do not specifically test on that platform to ensure compatibility.

Ok, I will do more testing and keep you inform.

Thanks.
