DHCP server options for TFTP server doesn't allow arbitrary strings
Added by Calvin Hendryx-Paker over 14 years ago.
Updated about 13 years ago.
Description
To configure Polycom SIP phones to find their configurations, you need to be able to specify a value for option 66 or tftp-server-name with this a value like this:
"ftp://polycom:password@10.12.2.2"
Right now it validates and requires an ip address or hostname.

checked on 2.0-BETA4 (amd64) Sat Oct 2 08:52:40 UTC 2010:
WebGUI permits to enter under "Additional BOOTP/DHCP options"
Option no. 66 with value "ftp://polycom:password@10.12.2.2".
Saving settings works without error.
Didn't do a real test on functionality as I don't have that SIP phone setup here.
I just updated to a nightly and tested this and it appears to work fine now.

It's nice that 2.0 has the ability to add custom strings but what we also really need is the ability to create custom blocks of options for specific nets based on MAC address. The use case here is IP phones from different vendors that will all be placed on the same subnet or VLAN and each vendor uses differently formatted strings or IPs for the provisioning server. I don't expect this to be accommodated by the GUI but we just need a big text box for "additional advanced configuration" or something like that where we can enter in arbitrary config for dhcpd.
