Description

When an interface is defined as "DHCP" type, it's can be helpful that the machine stay with a fix predefined ip (to be accessed from the interface for example).

You can say use the "STATIC" type in these case, but "DHPC" with a field where the fix ip can be indicated, can be more simple to have some DHCP functions (like receive DNS) but with predefined IP (for example when the machine who is use as DHCP can't give itself a predefined IP connected to the MAC for example ...

I think these function can be appreciated by other people too

Thanks

Gerard

  • Status changed from New to Rejected
  • Target version deleted (2.0)
  • Affected Version deleted (2.0)

I can't imagine any instance where it's remotely sane to use a static IP and pull other options via DHCP.

Would come in handy to be able to access IP telephones on a fixed IP while being able to update alle phones connected by specifying a TFTP Server in the DHCP options.
