The Captive Portal is sending the WAN IP in the RADIUS "called-station-id" attribute.
It has been mentioned before in this post:

There is no guarantee that the WAN IP address stays the same.
Sending the MAC or a user definable string is common practice.

Captive Portal gained this feature some time ago.
