Description
When a crash-dump is created after a panic rc.savecore is triggered at the next boot to save that file to /var/crash.
However if that operation fails for any reason, such as /var doesn't have enough space, the boot sequence fails and the BE is marked as a boot-failure.
Because the swap space is shared with all BEs that means non will boot without manually removing the crash dump.
Welcome to Netgate pfSense Plus 24.08-DEVELOPMENT... Checking dump device /dev/gpt/swap1 for crash dumps ... found data, saving. *** SYSTEM BOOT FAILURE *** System will reboot in 60 seconds... Failed Boot Environment: default2 Next Boot Environment: default_20240624180133
