I try to be more clear.

in PFsense captive portal configuration page there is a flag that says "enable logout popup window"
when this option is enabled and a user performs the login, the popup window with the logout button appears.

if the user clicks on that button it should be logged out and if trying to point to any url (like www.google.com) it should be requested to autenticate again against the captive portal.

this doesn't happen.
even if the user, by pressing the logout button in the popup window wants to force the logout and terminate the session, that session is not terminated.

Also in the Captive portal status, under the "active users" the user appears to be still logged in.

Sorry for my bad english

I can confirm the problem with the logout button. Currently I'm using the latest BETA4-2g-20100911-1644-nanobsd Image I started from scratch. Sorry, but I can't help you out with the source code of the logout page, when I tried to view the source, I get "nothing".

I recorded a video for you, that shows the problem:

Does NOT work actually. The user still remains at the logged in overview!

Could you explain what you mean in more detail? In particular, which page do you mean when you say "the logged in overview" ?

Status -> Captive portal

There the user who are currently logged in are shown and a user who loggs out via button does not disappear there.

I can verify pfSense 2.0 beta 5

When I first start to surf from a "new" MAC then I am being redirected to the portal. If I log in with correct username and password then I can surf without any problem but then I click on the log out button of the pop up windows I'm not longer allowed to surf and I'm being redirected to the log in page of the portal.

I believe it's working as expected now.
