Description

Installing or upgrading FRR from the CLI hangs indefinitely when FRR is enabled and configured.

At some point during the reinstall process, the FRR daemons are (re)started in a way that is not fully executing in the background, and they leave the process stuck. Even if you ^C out of the installation, pkg remains running.

Just had this issue while upgrading FFR package at one site, initialized from GUI. Open another Tab, go to Services -> FRR Global/Zebra and just hit save(what triggers another restart of all FRR daemons) and upgrade will finish immediately. All pkg related tasks will also finish clean, at least in this case. I did another update of FRR two days ago without any issues at all. This was also on 2.4.5_p1 pfSense-pkg-frr: 0.6.5 -> 0.6.5_1.

Same issue here. I can reproduce this reliably (any of upgrade, reinstall or fresh install) and and pressing the "Save" button as described by Luki TJ saved my day. frr package version is 0.6.6 (dep.: frr7-7.3.1)

ditto for 0.6.7_4

Issue is also present with other packages, like squidGuard (but not squid).

Duplicate bug I opened, but am referencing here:

It's a bug on pkg. I'm working on a fix

pkg 1.15.6 should fix this problem. If it passes all tests we can apply it to 2.4.5 as well

on factory it was built without the fix. 1.15.6_1 will for sure have it

pkg-1.5.16 is the fixed version on 2.4.5

No problems on current version of pkg, on CE or factory, on 2.4.5-p1 or 2.5.0. Everything appears to be OK now.

When update to pfblocker 3.0.0_2 through 3.0.0_4 on 2.5, it still take forever for the update to apply and then you have to manually start unbound after update complete. Not sure if this is the issue involved or not.

Still failing with 3.0.0_5 through 3.0.0_7 pfblocker with latest 2.5 and unbound 1.13 installed.

Confirmed here too. My pfBlocker is hosed during reinstall, can't seem to get it back, keeps hanging on reinstall, or uninstall. Package still present but gone from all menus and apparently inactive now.

EDIT: If I restart unbound, the process continues. It takes 2 restarts of unbound to complete the pfBlocker reinstall process.
